My work as a psychologist

As a registered clinical and school psychologist and board-approved supervisor, I am passionate about the role of psychology in helping to support people to live a balanced and fulfilling life. As part of this passion, I have invested significant time into a range of clinical work, including individual therapy, through to broader population-level supports (e.g. presentations, training and professional development). Over time, I've earned a reputation as a leading provider of services to schools, with a special emphasis on developing systems and processes that foster the well-being of students, parents, and staff.

I am currently running my own private practice - ConnectEd Counselling and Consultancy - which is based in Graceville, Brisbane. We provide support to young people and families. In addition, we provide consultancy services to school and business communities, delivering presentations, training and support to these organisations.

I also have a very strong focus on presenting on a range of topics relating to mental health, psychology and science. I have also combined this with a focus on academic work as I believe that the promotion of science helps us to understand and grow, as well as embrace the scientist-practitioner model.

In terms of my clinical work, some of my areas of interest are:

  • School counselling and managing the complexity of this context

  • System and process development that improves efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery

  • Policy/procedure development within educational and organisational contexts

  • Early intervention and prevention, particularly population-level interventions within a school context

  • Applied research (see examples of my academic work)

  • Working with young people, including managing process issues in therapy and creative methods for engaging young people
